Welcome to the CITY OF GOLD

Oroville is often referred to as the main gateway to Lake Oroville and the Feather River recreational areas. It played a significant role in the olive canning industry, which was established by Freda Ehmann, and recognized as the "mother of the California ripe olive industry."

Additionally, Oroville is home to the Oroville Dam, the tallest dam in the United States and one of the twenty largest dams in the world. The Mother Orange Tree, located in Oroville, is the oldest orange tree in Northern California.

The city boasts several parks and is well-known as one of the best fishing spots in northern California. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to Oroville for activities such as hunting, biking, hiking, swimming, and kayaking. People continue to seek gold, await the return of the salmon each year to Oroville, and enjoy all that the beautiful nature of the buttes has to offer.
